Indian Coast Guard Issues Notification for Recruitment of Yantriks


Indian Coast Guard, an Armed Force of the Union under Ministry of Defence, invited applications from unmarried male candidates holding three years Technical Diploma for recruitment to the post of Yantrik. Interested candidates can apply online till 14 February 2013.

Age
Minimum: 18 years
Maximum: 21 years
(Candidates should be born between 1 August 1991 and 31 July 1995)
(Upper age limit relax able by 5 years for SC/ST and by 3 years for OBC candidates).
Educational Qualification: Matriculate + 3 years Diploma in Mechanical / Electrical / Electronic Engineering.

Pay: Rs.20000 (approx emolument on joining)

Selection Procedure: Selection would be done on the basis of candidates’ performance in written test, followed by Physical Fitness Test (PFT), Interview and Medical Examination (Preliminary).  The selection procedure will take 2-3 days.

Candidates will be shortlisted for the written test on the basis of their educational qualification (marks in Diploma). The 'Online' Applications will be sorted out centre wise.  Candidates will be informed about Date, time and venue of the test and other information through personal email ID. Information will also be available on the Coast Guard Website www.indiancoastguard.nic.in by mid March 2013.
The objective type written test is scheduled to be held in March- April 2013. The paper will have questions related to respective discipline (Mechanical / Electrical / Electronics & Telecommunication). All original certificates and mark sheets are to be produced at the time of written test that will be returned after verification.

The Physical Fitness Test will be of qualifying in nature and will be conducted for those who pass the written tests.
As part of PFT candidates will have to:

a.complete 1.6 Km run in 7 minutes

 b.do 20 squat ups (Uthak Baithak)

c.do 10 Push ups

Candidates who qualify the above tests will be required to undergo initial medical examination at the respective recruitment centre. Select list, in order of merit, will be prepared from the candidates who qualify in all the tests depending upon the available vacancies. All India select list of candidates will be displayed on the Indian Coast Guard Website www.indiancoastguard.nic.in in July 2013.
Physical Standards


Height: 157 cms. (Minimum) Reduction in height for candidates from hilly areas and tribal areas will be in accordance with the Central Govt. orders.

Chest: Should be well proportioned with minimum expansion of 5 cms.
 
Weight: Proportionate to height and age +10% acceptable.
Medical Standards: Medical examination will be conducted by authorised military doctors

Visual Standards:6/24 (Better Eye)
                              6/24 (Worse Eye).

No Cardio-vascular disease, surgical deformities like knock knee, flat feet etc. infection of ears, no history of fits or psychiatric ailment, varicose vein, corrective surgery for eye sight etc.

Final Enrolment Medical Examination: All select list candidates, issued call letter for Final Medical Examination, will have to undergo the examination at INS Chilka prior to enrolment. Candidates found 'unfit' during this medical examination will not be enrolled for training.
Call letter for final medical examination for enrolment in the Coast Guard will be forwarded only to initial medically qualified candidates. These candidates will be required to reach the training establishment at their own expense.

NOTE: Candidate's selection pertaining to a particular batch is valid for that batch only. Qualified candidates whose names do not appear in the final select list cannot claim admission for the next batch. These candidates will have to undergo the selection procedure afresh provided that they meet the eligibility criteria for the fresh batch.

Training: Basic training will commence in August 2013 at INS Chilka followed by sea training and professional training. Yantriks are liable to be discharged as ‘Unsuitable’ due to unsatisfactory performance at during training.

Travel Expenses: SC/ST candidates, who are not employed by the Central/State Government, will be reimbursed 2nd class fare by train/ Govt bus/steamer charges by the shortest route if the home station is beyond 30 kms from the place of examination on production of ticket.

How to Apply: Interested candidates can apply online by logging on to website www.joincoastguard.org till 14 February 2013.

On successful submission of the application, a Registration no. will appear on the screen. Candidates are required to print two copies of the application with Registration number. They would be required to submit one copy of the print out along with copies of all required documents at the recruitment centre and keep the second copy with themselves.

Note: Filling of multiple applications will result in cancellation of all application.
Candidate withdrawn on disciplinary grounds from any other service training establishments are not eligible to apply.
No enquiry will be entertained regarding recruitment/enrolment after a period of six months.
Candidates from "Open Schools" institutes not registered with Government are not eligible.
